At half-time, Klopp took off Sadio Mane, saying that he needed to replace him as he was worried he would get sent off. In his place, Divock Origi was introduced.
Tony Cascarino was far from happy with the Belgian’s performance. He told talkSPORT (via tribuna.com): “I did think one thing stood out against Atletico, and I think Liverpool fans know this anyway, and that’s Origi is not really good enough to be a starter at Liverpool. I do think they are going to try and find another forward.”
This had the club’s supporters reacting in numbers, and many were quick to point out he isn’t a starter anyway.
Indeed, the former Lille man is far from one of the first names on the team-sheet at Anfield – he has started just 10 matches this term. It is not news that he is not really good enough to hold down a spot in the starting XI for Klopp.
Others, meanwhile, believe that the position he played in against Atletico did not help him.
Throughout his career, Origi has played just 44 times on the left wing compared to 139 up front, according to Transfermarkt. If he played more in his favoured position, he may be far more valuable to the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

One fan, meanwhile, was impressed with his display against Atletico anyway.
He many not be as good as Mane, but then again, not many are – the Senegal international finished fourth in the latest Ballon d’Or rankings, after all. Still, that doesn’t mean that Origi isn’t good enough, he just isn’t on that level.
