Liam Cooper has made a request to the Elland Road faithful in what is an extremely kind gesture towards one Leeds-supporting family.
The club captain asked the supporters attending Saturday’s game against Huddersfield to pay their respects to Ken Foster in the 72nd minute, a fan who recently passed away at the age of 72 – he was a season-ticket holder for over 50 years.
Cooper tweeted that Ken’s family would be “extremely grateful” if those inside Elland Road could pay their respects with a round of applause – a truly lovely gesture from the 28-year-old and one that was praised thoroughly in the comments thread.
The 28-year-old – who is rated at £6.3m on Transfermarkt – saw his kind tweet met with a response from ex-Leeds striker Billy Sharp, a man who scored five goals for the club.
The Sheffield United forward posted a concise eight-word response in appreciation of his ex-teammate’s gesture.
